The Pillowman is a stage play which David starred in during 2003. It was written by Irish playwright Matrin McDonagh. The play tells the tale of Katurian, a fiction writer, who is interrogated by the police about the gruesome content of his short stories, and their similarities to a number of child murders.
The play had its world premiere on 13th November 2003 at the National Theatre in London. It was directed by John Crowley and the original production starred the following:
David Tennantas Katurian. A writer of gruesome short stories often involving children. His disturbed imagination was the result of having heard his brother being abused when they were younger. Consequently he killed his parents and looked after his brother.

Nigel Lindsay as Ariel. A brutal detective who was abused himself. He has a vendetta against anyone who commits crimes against children.
